New Music: Depeche Mode- Soothe My Soul + Other Recent Releases and News

Depeche Mode have just released a second single from their upcoming LP Delta Machine. The busy band have been making the rounds of TV talk shows, played SXSW the other day, and now have  put out "Soothe My Soul", the second track to be previewed from their new album. The song reminds of their glory days when they regularly played to a 100,000 people in big stadiums- kinda electro arena rock: Listen below:

It was a little bit of a slow week for new music buzz. Maybe everybody is too busy having a good time down at SXSW. However, there was some interesting stuff that came out:

Hot on the heels of the new heels of the new Wire track comes fellow post punk pioneers Gang Of Four and their new song "Broken Talk". They are planning a new EP which will be released some time this spring and this song is the first preview of it. Listen to the song over at Soundcloud:

I love Foals, but hate the fact that I have to wait until Record Store Day to buy the vinyl release of their new album Holy Fire. In the mean time, I can bide my time by watching their creative videos. Here's a new one for the Holy Fire track "Late Night". Watch the NSFW clip that features explicit sex, suicide, child birth and a just a little bit of blood.

This is a great promotion!!! Suede are set to release their brand new album next week and to promote the LP they are giving away a live version of their classic track "Film Star". The song was originally recorded at a charity gig for XFM. Grab the song below:

I guess School Of Seven Bells singer Benjamin Curtis is having an obvious tough time battling cancer right now. So tough that the band have set up a website to help pay for his treatment. Fellow musician Teen Daze is also pitching in and has a brand new song on Bandcamp in honour of Curtis. All proceeds from the sale of the song will be donated to Curtis to help with his recovery.

New Music: The Strokes- All The Time + Other Recent Releases and Music News

"All The Time" is the second track to be released from the upcoming new Strokes' album Comedown Machine. While the synth heavy a-Ha-like first song from the LP, "One Way Trigger", was a bit of a head scratcher, the second track is a garage pop/indie rock barn burner that recreates the sound of their debut album. Now that's more like it!! Listen below:

Legendary folk punk troubadour Billy Bragg has a new LP coming out on March 19th titled Tooth and Nails. Watch the video for the country-ish "Nobody Knows Anymore":

British/New Zealand post punk band The Veils have announced a new album and released the first single "Through The Deep Dark Wood.". The album is titled Time Goes, We Stay and will be out April 23rd. Watch the video for the new track below:

Just because I don't post about hip hop, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the genre. R.I.P. Tim Dog. The legendary hip hop artist died this week from a seizure.

New Music: Foals- My Number

I was going to post Foals latest song, My Number, last night in one of the many, many lulls of last night's somewhat boring 12/12/12 concert , but when I went to stream the song the bastards had reset the YouTube clip to private. Does 24 hours make a difference? Apparently so, since every other music website and blog have already posted the song during the day, which now makes me late to the game. (Some people...like me.... have real jobs during the day). The groovy, funky break up song is less grungy than Inhaler, the first single from the new album, but it is definitely more danceable.

My Number will appear on Foals new album Holy Fire which will be released on February 12th via Warner.

New Music: Foals- Inhaler + Music Video

Totally psyched that Foals are returning in the new year with a brand new album. To tease us the band gave us their brand new single today, Inhaler, plus an accompanying NSFW music video. The new album, Holy Fire, was helmed by the tag team of Flood and Alan Moulder who are known for producing Depeche Mode, among others.

Inhaler is a lot more harder edged than their previous work, but the band still manages to maintain that funky math rock vibe.

The video features all sorts of pulmonary imagery including a topless girl with a painting of lungs on her chest and group of kids writhing on the ground and doing weird breathing exercises before they break into a big synchronized dance. Watch and listen below:
