New Music: Beck- Waking Light

I am late to the party on this one. I meant to post this song last week, but I was too busy to get around to it. Beck's new album Morning Phase is poised to be one of the best releases this year. Don't believe me? Well, we have already heard "Blue Moon", a song that wouldn't have been out of place on Beck's best album Sea Change, and now he has come out with the equally good, melancholic song "Waking Light." Looking forward to February 25th when the new album will be available.

New Music: Beck- Blue Moon

After releasing a couple of solid singles last year, Beck has finally announced the follow up to his 2008 album Modern Guilt. The new album is titled Morning Phase and is said to be a sequel to my favourite record of his, Sea Change. The first single from the LP, “Blue Moon”, is very beautiful and does remind of Sea Change. I don’t think the new album will be as sad as Sea Change, Mr. Hansen is happily married now and not coming off a bad break up. But, Beck does sing on the new song that he is tired of being alone...maybe I am wrong and all is not good. Listen to the track below:

Morning Phase is out February 25th via Capitol.

New Music: Beck- I Won't Be Long

Welcome back Beck!! Two brilliant new singles this summer - first with "Defriended" and now "I Won't Be Long. " The latter sounds like it could have been on Sea Change if he had a been a bit happier at the time of writing that album.

Still no word on a new album but apparently neither of the songs Beck released this summer will be on it. "I Won't Be Long" will be out on 12" July 8th which you can order here.

New Music: Beck- Defriended

Welcome back Mr. Beck Hansen.

After a few restless years Beck has finally released a new original song, his first since the 2008 LP Modern Guilt. True, the California singer-songwriter/rapper has been busy doing collaborations and his Song Book series over the last while, but he hasn't put out a new original song until today.

Not totally a surprise because a couple of months ago Beck stated that he would be releasing an acoustic album some time this year. However, "Defriended" is definitely not acoustic and plays out more like something Animal Collective would produce. Listen below:
